Our Garden...

We haven't planted a vegetable garden for years. When the boys were small, we grew a family garden every year...everyone got to choose what they wanted to grow and everyone had to work in the garden. As the kids got older, they still wanted to help choose the vegetables, but somehow I seemed to do all the work! Then once we put in the basketball court, the garden would take a beating because it was located directly behind the court. Eventually we gave up on the garden and planted grass seed.

This year, Steve and I decided we really wanted to grow a garden again. My hubby actually dug up the grass and tilled the soil the old fashioned way...with a shovel!

Removing the grass...

Tilling the soil...

Much to our delight, everything is growing well. Since we planted we have had rain and hail, but the garden is still thriving. Can't wait to start harvesting...

My Treasures...

A couple of weeks ago, Steve and I went to a community yard sale and I was happy to find a couple of treasures. You know the old saying, 'One man's junk is another man's treasure'... well it applies to women as well!!!

I love the crock bowl and the metal stand! I think I paid a total of $2.50 for all of it, which was a bargain in my book, but it gets even better! Steve found $6.00 in the middle of the street, so we actually came home richer than we were when we left!! Doesn't get any better than that!!

Lemonade Cake Recipe...

Last night, I made a Lemonade Cake for dessert for FDN and have gotten some requests for the recipe. I am always happy to share recipes, so here you go:

Quick Lemonade Cake

1 (18 ounce)box lemon cake mix
1 (4-ounce) box lemon instant pudding mix
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

Preheat oven to 350.

Lightly grease and flour (I used spray) large Bundt pan. Make cake mix according to package directions, adding pudding mix and lemon juice. Pour into prepared pan. Bake as directed on package. Let cool 15 minutes. Carefully run a knife around edges to release from pan. Invert cake onto serving plate.

Lemon Glaze

1 cup powdered sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

In a small bowl, whisk glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over warm cake.

Enjoy!
