For Christmas, my hubby gave me a camera. It is a Canon Power Shot SX10IS and I absolutely love it. The only problem is that it has more settings than I will probably ever conquer! I have been practicing and experimenting every chance I get and still feel like I am barely skimming the surface of what this camera will do.
Yesterday afternoon Steve and I took a lazy Sunday drive and I grabbed my camera as we were heading out the door...just in case any photo ops should arise. It still amazes me that although we live in the middle of the city, within about a five minute drive, we can encounter such beautiful rural sights:
For some reason that I don't even understand, I have an affinity for lone trees...
and also a soft spot for old crooked fences...
as well as black and white photos!
But even I know some things just have to be seen in color!
Many of the pictures I took yesterday are blurry and I haven't yet discovered what I am doing wrong, but I am still learning and having a great time in the process. Kyle is usually my "go to" guy with photography questions, but alas, he has been distracted lately, so I will continue to read the manual and attempt to learn on my own!
Kyle and his sweet "distraction", Holly.
By the way, Sam also has a "distraction" these days, but I don't have a picture of her ...yet!

Very nice photos, Mom.
You can ask my photography questions any time you want! I'll see if I can squeeze in an answer or two when I'm not busy spending time with my very sweet "distraction"!
Hi Kyle,
I am surprised you were able to find the time to leave a comment!
Maybe on your next trip home you can look at my blurry photos and tell me what you think I did wrong?
Thanks for commenting and tell Holly I said "hi".
Hi Steve's girl!! What pretty pictures you took! I am partial to B & W myself! :) Aww thanks for posting our picture! I am so darn happy and blessed being Kyle's sweet distraction! Have a great day and tell Steve and Sam I say Hi!

Hi Holly,
Glad you like the photos and it's nice to know you also enjoy B&W's.
I am happy to post your picture. Since it is the only one I have, I am glad it turned out so well!
Thanks for your comment. Have a great week and hope to see you soon.
Great photo's. You are quickly learning your camera and a great photograhper. Keep it up. Maybe we will go on another adventure drive.
Good picture of Kyle and Holly. Hope to see both of them soon.
Thank you, Honey! I think another adventure drive soon is a great idea! I am already looking forward to it!
The photos are great. I love the lone tree. As you can see on my blog I have a thing for lone trees too. Especially the dead one in my back yard. I love the B&W too, there's just something wonderfuly about it. You would love the fence lines here, so many too look at. I love them too, especially the fences that have old and new fencing mixed together, so country. Now that you have a new camera I look forward to seeing lots of great pictures on your blog. :)
I can't wait to meet Holly! What a wonderful "distraction" for Kyle! Im so happy for them both, they make a lovely couple. Awwwwww, its just too cute!!
All my love,
Dee
Hi Dee,
I love the photos of the tree on your blog too! Isn't it funny that you, Holly, and I all love the B&W's? Something romantic and nostalgic about them.
Kyle and Holly are a cute couple and very sweet together.
Sam has a new girlfriend named Amy, but I don't have any pictures of her yet. Maybe they can be my next victims...er subjects when we all get together next week for Sam's birthday.
Thanks for the comment.
Great photos! We recently took cow photos too. Darlene added one yesterday to the "Daily Photo Blog". I'll have to Google your new camera, I'm not familiar with that model. You're doing great with it, though!
Be sure to tell Leon Happy Birthday from all of us in deep south Texas!
Hey Jim,
Thanks for the compliments...they are extra special coming from such a great photographer! I am having fun with my camera, but am sometimes overwhelmed by all the settings.
I love the pictures on your photo blog. You and Darlene are both talented at finding great shots.
Leon says thanks! Can't believe my baby will be 24 in a couple of days!
